A PROCESS TO FACILITAE THE LEARNING IN IPC

All IPC units follow the Process to Facilitate Learning, with the learner at the centre, which is structured to make sure that children’s learning experiences are stimulating and therefore effective.

Entry Point

The Entry Point is an activity for children that begins each unit of learning and provides an exciting introduction to the learning that is to follow.

Knowledge Harvest

The knowledge harvest provides an opportunity for children to reveal what they already know about the themes they are learning.

Explaining the Theme

At this stage, children are encouraged to connect the learning with relevant previous knowledge, skills, and understandings.

Research, Record, Reflect

Research, Record, Reflect is a mini-cycle within the IPC learning cycle which is done in every IPC unit.

•  Research

Research is the first step of this mini-cycle where learners recall their previous learning to consolidate their Knowledge and Skills and also to broaden their Understanding. They use different methods and work collaboratively or individually.

•  Record

Learners follow up their research by recording activities by processing and explaining the learning they have researched previously. Recording tasks provides choices and challenges for learners to develop their strengths and interests.

•  Reflect

The process of reflecting should enable learners to use Knowledge, develop Skill, and develop Understanding through the task they have done. However, this process may be done before, and during a task with various given reflective questions.

Exit Point

The exit point is where the learning celebration takes place and helps children synthesize subject learning, and Personal and International learning.
